Great price for a quality product October 3, 2008 Duzzit Matta (Washington DC, Metro) We were looking for mid-sized LCD and the 42RV530U fit the bill. Amazon's price was $100 to $200 below any other online competitor and they even offered free shipping. Newegg had it listed for $100 more and was charging $90 for the white-glove shipping. The TV itself is extremely impressive for the money you spend. It is a good size and is very attractive and modern looking. It had the right number of inputs for us, allowing us to hook up our PC, DVD player, Wii Console, receiver, and Cable Box without a problem. The colors are very vibrant and their is virtually no ghosting on the screen even in fast-action movies. The only thing that didn't impress me was the blacks, it was a bit splotchy, but not a huge deal. In the end, a great buy. Some of the reviews online will tell you otherwise, but for the average user, it is perfect.
Outstanding! September 30, 2008 Robert J. Webb Toshiba REGZA 42RV530U 42-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV Outstanding. Amazon.com is so very easy to navigate. So very nice to do business with. You do a great job. I go to you every time. Thank You!
Great TV for a Great Price September 29, 2008 Mac4Life (CT) This TV is an excellent deal. I got mine at Circuit City for $999. It has a great picture and excellent menus/settings. The half-mute feature (pressing the Mute button once mutes the sound by one half) is great and the game mode does seem to enhance my PS3 games. Overall this is a good TV and I don't have any complaints.
Fantastic Colors! September 26, 2008 D. Paris (Bel Air, MD) Great 42" 1080p TV for under $1,000. Best Buy has it priced at $997.00. Plus if you have a 10% coupon, even better. Cannot beat the value when comparing to other TV's the same size and end up paying hundreds more. Plug and Play and you are ready to go. This is my 2nd Toshiba and will always buy Toshiba over other brands.
Toshiba Will Not Stand By Their Products!!! September 22, 2008 G. Garren (Annandale, VA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased a Toshiba 42" flat panel in February 2007 and didn't purchase the extended warranty, as I reasonably expected a 3 to 5 year service life out of this set. I am sooooooo sorry that I spent one dime on a Toshiba product... After a mere 18-month period, I was forced to call for repair. A technician diagnosed that my LCD panel failed and that the cost of repair was more than I paid for the TV! A call to Toshiba customer service was met with nothing but frustration. Although out of warranty by a mere six months, the CSR would hear NOTHING of my plea that a $2,200 television should last for more than 18 months and kept repeating that, "(I)...should have bought the extended warranty." (Morris is quite a jerk!!!) A last-ditch effort call to a Toshiba service center revealed the information that Toshiba has problems with ALL of their 42" televisions. A quick check on main Better Business Bureau website indicates that Toshiba has an "Unsatisfactory" rating in resolving customer issues. I only wish I had this information when I purchased this boat anchor and can only wonder how MANY issues Toshiba has! After learning all of the above, I have begun a letter writing campaign directly to the CEOs of all of the major retailers: Best Buy (where I bought the set), as well as Amazon Sears, Circuit City, etc., informing them that sales such poor-quality products can only hurt their reputation and that they should drop the Toshiba product line altogether. DO NOT- repeat DO NOT- ever buy a Toshiba product. While it might work well when it works (and I agree with the other reviewers' comments that it's a nice set- BUT ONLY WHEN IT WORKS), quality of manufacture, durability and customer service are other matters altogether. My advice: spend more and buy a Sony...you'll get your money's worth in the long run and considerate and reasonable treatment from their customer service department.
