Simple, effective, easy to hang. July 23, 2008 Ghenghis (Monvolia) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
This mount is wide enough so that there's no way you dont hit studs where you need them, better if you have new construction and can block the wall for the mount. Anyway, this is a good mount, simple to get up on the wall, and the folks at Omnimount send you more hardware than you need for any possible application so you're good to go. One major caution though....if you dont plan to tilt your new Plasma/LCD, then you need to ratchet down the tilt mechanism as tight as you can get it so that the weight of your tv doesnt pull it down at an angle after you get it up on the wall. My 58" Panasonic dropped twice and I was forced to take the damn thing down and crank the Allen wrench as tight as I could possibly get it to hold the thing up vertical. Somewhat of a pain. All in all a good mount.
Great product, perfect for my wall and 60" Pioneer March 17, 2008 L. M. Hicks (Greenville, SC USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This mount worked perfectly with my 60" Pioneer Elite plasma. The instructions seem a little daunting at first, but in reality the whole mounting process was painless. The most tedious part is making sure the bracket is level on the wall as you drill the six holes into your studs. After the bracket is mounted, you just attach the hangers to the back of your TV set and hang it on the wall. The whole mount is very thin, but it is built like a tank and I have no worries about my TV which weighs about 150 lbs. The tilt works perfectly (although I don't use it) and it even has a feature called "kickstands" on the bottom. This lets you tilt out the bottom of the TV so you can more easily access all the connections during installation. The one note of caution I do have is to make sure the back of your TV is flat where the hanger brackets will mount. They are fairly long and as the previous customer review noted, it may not fit your TV if the back is not flat.
Do Not Buy This Mount for 58" Panasonic! December 26, 2007 Joe Rosen (Los Angeles) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
After many hours of research, I selected the recently released OmniMount low-profile ULPT-X wall bracket for my new Panasonic TH58PZ700u plasma set. A major reason for spending $240 was the 140+ lbs weight of the plasma unit and this mount's ability to bolt onto three (3) wall studs instead of the typical two. Lo and behold, installation day came and the installers discovered the Omni wouldn't fit with the curved bottom section of the Panasonic 58" plasma - and they were right. Omni included some spacers to make up the 2"-3" gap, but who wants to mount that much weight with multiple spacers and extra-long bolts as the weakest link? Not me. And even if I went that route I would end-up with a set 7"-8" from the wall - not exactly what I had in mind when ordering a low-profile wall bracket. So I called "Customer Service" at OmniMount and asked why that mount was listed with that particular plasma set (one of the more popular units being sold at this time). The response? "Well, we hardly can be expected to test all of our brackets with every plasma model that comes out every month." Uh, but didn't you guys list your mount as working with that plasma? "Oh - ok, I'll tell'em to remove it from the list." Now THERE'S a well-trained customer server rep destined for a quick climb up the corporate ladder - perhaps at the U.N. or our overseas Diplomat Corps? By the way, as of today's date, it's still listed and I'm sure it won't be removed since this rep doesn't have the stroke to order toilet tissue. e-Bay here we come. 50 cents on the dollar, anyone? Good luck - hope your set fits this mount. Actually, not luck - what you really need with OmniMount is Faith. Too bad Amazon won't let me give them zero stars...
