The device--which uses a high-quality aperture grille to deliver a high-resolution, high-contrast picture--broadcasts up to 181 channels on its 9-inch screen, though far fewer when used in transit. It also offers both an AC power adapter (for locations such as a kitchen counter and bookshelf) and a 12-volt adapter that hooks up through a car's cigarette lighter. Non-cable reception is ensured through the TV's telescoping antenna, which attaches to the top of the TV. Other features include onscreen menus for variables such as picture quality, a sleep timer (with 30-, 60-, and 90-minute settings), channel captioning, channel block (for restricting children's access to mature programming), and a 1-watt speaker for audio. From the inside out, it's fundamentally different from conventional color picture tubes. You get a picture that's the brighter, more dynamic and more rewarding to watch! To prevent detail from being washed out in the picture highlights - or lost in the murk of picture shadows - Sony developed Dynamic Picture circuitry. It constantly adjusts the picture brightness and contrast - tailoring the signal to the dynamic range of the picture tube and making sure you get all the detail that's coming to you! This TV features 181-channel frequency synthesis tuner that quartz-locks the channels for greater accuracy. Channel Block blocks viewing of up to two channels.
