1 out of 5 stars Don't Buy This TV !!!   August 21, 2008
C. Steenstra (North Andover, MA USA)
Don't buy this TV !!! I bought this TV about 18 months ago and have had nothing but problems with it. Almost immediately, I have had to reset the TV at least once every two weeks or I don't get all my stations on the CableCard. The TV Guide rarely works and when it does it is extremely slow and difficult to navigate. Changing stations is extremely slow. Oh..one more thing. The lamp on this TV failed just over one year from purchase and it appears the lamp is failing again in just over six months from the last replacement. Replacement lamp cost over $200 !!! Need I say more about this Mitsubishi WD-57831 TV.

Prior to this TV I had a Mitsubishi 35 inch tube TV, which I was very satisfied with for over 12 years. The quality of the Mitsubishi WD-57831 is so poor as compared to the TV I used to have, I don't think I could ever buy another Mitsubishi again. In comparison I bought a Sony 32" LCD about 2 years ago and have enjoyed fantastic picture, functionality and reliability ever since.

1 out of 5 stars Problem with airflow   June 10, 2008
SKN (North Carolina)
We have had this tv for nine months. It has continally shut down following a message that comes onto the screen saying that the tv will shut down automatically, please check for an airflow blockage. Just to test, we moved the tv out into the middle of an open room, but still receive the message and the tv shuts down. So, if you don't want to be in the middle of a movie, ballgame, or any other show, just to have your tv shut off and you cannot get it back on, we would not recommend this product. We regret purchasing this television.

1 out of 5 stars WD-57831 - Buyer Beware   March 16, 2008
S. Muir (P.G. County, MD)
I have owned this TV for a little over one year and have already had to have the lamp replaced twice. The first time within two months of purchase, the second lamp lasted about 11 months. Once the warranty expires the cost for replacement lamps on the Mitsubishi website is $260. Initially buying a DLP set was cheaper than going with the LCD, but those savings will eventually be lost buying replacement parts. Also the picture quality is average, not much better than the ten year old Sony I replaced. Think carefully before buying any DLP set, especially one from Mitsubishi.

1 out of 5 stars Mitsubishi Scraping the Bottom!   February 28, 2008

Mitsubishi was once a premium line for large screen products. Their quality and customer service have hit rock bottom. The quality is questionable and its doubtful that their products produce the 1080p image that they claim. Buyer beware. They have lost my loyalty and my business. There are too many other high quality offerings to choose from such as Sony, Samsung and Sharp. Don't be taken by Mitsubishi. You've been warned.

5 out of 5 stars Great Purchase!   December 12, 2007
Joerilla (Mesa, AZ)
I took about three months to decide on a new DLP. I had narrowed my search down to Mitsubishi WD series tv's. Specifically because of Texas Instruments color engine that is used in the newer models and the sleek profile of the tv. After a lot of browsing and price comparisons I decided on this model.

The DLP performs as advertised. The clarity is amazing. The up conversion works very well. The universal remote is actually universal. I have six devices programmed. Nothing I had in the past handled them all. For a price tag of $1700 delivered to AZ from NJ I couldn't pass this deal up. Hands down one of the best purchases I've ever made.
