Amazing tv, though needs lots of equipment upgrades December 12, 2008 Linda Harris (Kentucky) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this TV on black friday and received it the following tuesday. It is perfect for gaming and graphics look amazing when I play on my xbox 360. Though the problems start occuring with image quality when you watch tv or dvd's. You will have to have cable with hd programing, which cost alot of money, as if you try to watch with an antenna it looks worse than on a standard definition tv. Though with the switch over to DTV that will change. The next problem I encountered was with my dvd player. I have a sony dvd/vcr combo player, just got it last year, and it looked very bad. The quality is similar to a movie that was recorded with a very crappy digital camera. So you will also have to buy a upscaling dvd player and get a hdmi cable. So if you get this tv, be sure to get that as well. I was able to hook the dvd player up to component and that improved it slightly but again, it looks better on a standard definition tv. I also have to switch wires around if I want to watch a tape as the vcr section of the player will not work when the dvd player is hooked up to component. Overall this is a great tv and it would have gotten 5 had it not had the major issue with image quality.
Satisfied customer, confused by the naysayers November 18, 2008 The Shrike (Pittsburgh, PA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was pretty surprised to see the negative reviews on this product by more people than not. I haven't experienced any picture problems with this TV. I'm not a big tech guy so I don't pay too much attention to that many specs but I just don't see where the complaints are coming from. Never had a complaint about the colors or picture in general. The one complain I have is that sometimes it takes a solid 3-5 seconds to change a channel, especially if you're switching to an HD channel. It's kind of annoying if you're switching between two games or two shows when one or the other is on a commercial, but it's not a deal breaker for me at least. If you're unhappy with this TV you're pretty hard to please in my mind. If that's the case just fork over the money for a Samsung. I thought this set was reasonably priced for a 37" and again other than it not being absolutely perfect I don't have any problem recommending it to someone.
A very nice TV November 1, 2008 Semiretrd (Columbus, Ohio) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Like a previous reviewer, we were in the market for a TV that would fit our entertainment unit. I found this unit at Amazon for $300.00 less than the same model at Best Buy, and it was even less than the Sony L-series model at Amazon (I've since noticed that the cost at Amazon increased in the last week by $100.00). I also ordered the Sony upscaling DVD player and 2 HDMI cables from Amazon with my order. We have Time Warner Cable, and I needed to upgrade our box for HDTV. The HDMI cables make installation easier - not having to fumble around with those color-coded cables. This is our first HDTV, and we are very impressed with the picture. The set is handsome (gloss black color and rounded corners) and fits our entertainment center perfectly.
Terrible TV October 23, 2008 Aa 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I am terribly disappointed by the quality of this product. Like others have mentioned, the picture is basically a fuzzy, pixelated mess. We got the original one and the picture quality was poor. Sony agreed to exchange it for us, and the second one was even worse than the first. This one is also going back, and we're looking elsewhere for a TV. We tried all sorts of stuff to make it work, and no dice. Our Panasonic 32" HD TV works perfectly fine on both of our Comcast boxes, and not even the DVD player looks good on this thing, so it's not an issue of the bandwidth/feed. For this amount of money, this lack of quality is a joke. Utterly ridiculous lack of quality
not at all satisfied September 8, 2008 A. Ankala (MS. USA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I am not at all satisfied with this SONY product. I could never get a bright picture. the picture is all hazy with low contrast. I am returing this product at the expense of $100 for shipping.
