3 out of 5 stars Great Picture, Poor Color   October 9, 2008
Funkwart (New York)
This Samsung has a really sharp picture. You won't miss 1080p at all. In fact I think it is sharper than some 1080p plasmas I have compared it to(Panasonic PZ80U and PZ85U). For the money, it is a great tv at 50 inches. My reservation is that the black levels are poor and the vibrancy of the color suffers. Compared to the Panasonic 50" 720p (PX80U also about $1000), the black levels aren't even close.
The Panasonic however has a very soft picture (not near as sharp). This only seems to matter on long shots and doesn't seem to affect fast motion. If you want great color, go with the Panasonic. If you want a razor sharp picture, go with the Samsung. Both are a great deal at this price, but the drawbacks of each are noticeable.

5 out of 5 stars Wow just an awesome monitor!   October 3, 2008

I have wanted a flat screen since they first came out and it was about 400 dollars an inch for anything over 19 inches. I took the plunge and ordered this set in August 08. I can say nothing but good things about the screen and features thus far, the picture and settings are just awesome. It is very hard to go to any of my families houses and watch their televisions.

5 out of 5 stars VERY impressed...   September 24, 2008
Bailey Z. Rose (Orlando, FL)
Well, I had my reservations. Was 720p 'good' enough? Was the 'burn-in' going to be an issue if I played Halo or other video games?

After spending time with this TV I've learned that 720p looks INCREDIBLE from 7' away in my living room, the color & definition are fantastic even at cool color temp. and low brightness / contrast, and there's no burn in at all after playing hours of Halo (it was justified, I had to celebrate my new TV a little bit).

All my doubts were erased as soon as I got to know this TV. It's got a breathtaking picture and looks sleek, too.

NOTE: I got this at Circuit City, not Amazon. As of Sep. 23, 2008, CC has this for $999, $100 cheaper than Amazon's price. Just something to note when you're shopping around.

5 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC SET!   September 9, 2008
S. Davey (Dallas, GA USA)
We bought the Samsung plasma to replace our 2 year old Samsung DLP which is going to our vacation home. We expected the picture to be a bit better but WOW. The delivery service was exceptional and the price competitive. After I placed the order, I found the same set in my area for $100 less. I would have cancelled the Amazon order but would have had to pay a re-stock fee. Oh, well, we love the set and had to make zero adjustments. The 720 is fine - we just wanted a crisper picture and that's what we have! For regular tv viewers as we are, this is about the best you can get.
