2 out of 5 stars Player works - Remote doesn't   January 4, 2009
L. Knight (WASHINGTON, USA)
1st - There was no manual with this. Not sure if this is the norm, but we bought ours brand new in a never opened box. Found one online so that was okay I guess.

2nd - The remote never worked. A search in Google shows I am not the only one who has had this problem. No, it isn't just a distance thing. I have held it all the way up the remote eye on the player. It is just useless which means because there are no such options on the player itself, if you lose the draw and get one that doesn't work, you can't open menu, select scenes, fast forward or reverse.

3rd - The player itself has been working great when you use the only options on the player body: Power, open, play, pause and stop.

If you expect little for paying little, you will be okay. It is better than nothing.

1 out of 5 stars Dead after 2 uses!   December 29, 2008
Ken L. Seldeen (Miami, FL)
I swear to god this DVD player died after 2 uses! I was looking for a simple DVD player since I don't watch that often so as soon as I got this I threw the boxes away and set it up. Bad move - flurry of "Bad disk" errors and jumbled images followed with everything I put in there, despite those same DVD's playing well in my XBOX. Memorex can keep the 25 bucks they ripped from me - but hopefully this review will keep others from going down that path!

4 out of 5 stars Great Buy but...   December 8, 2008

I purchased 2 of these DVD Players because my old ones were no good and it was cheaper to buy new ones instead of getting the old ones fixed. One worked perfectly right out of the box. The second on had a defective laser lens. However, I called the manufacturer directly who gave me a RMA number and told me to contact Amazon. The replacement is the same make and model and works perfectly. A good buy for the money. I recommend keeping all the packaging until you have tested it out. Also, the remote doesn't work from a far distance so you may have to have it close by to use it and the power cord and plugs are short in length so if you have longer ones try using them of buy ones that will fit according to where you want to place the item. Overall, worth the $30!
