not bad at all August 19, 2008 F. GARCIA (MD United States) it does what it is supposed to do easy to use, great picture.... what more can you expect for $40
Keep Looking July 21, 2008 Hank (Florida) I have a number of problems with this. It freezes up and by freezes up I mean I can't even turn it off, I have to unplug it. I'm already looking for a replacement. Buy cheap get cheap.
Nice unit , but ..... May 6, 2008 BeeBopFlyer (Long Beach, CA USA) Works fine, so far. The only problem I have is getting to use my universal remote, with all the other components (TV, VCR, Direct TV, etc.)with this COBY. I can't find their codes listed anywhere and after emailing their tech department, they won't give me a code. Their argument is that I won't get all the functions. Well I don't get all the functions with the universal with other components either. Just be aware. I don't get it.
So far so good! April 1, 2008 N. wright (socal) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I wanted an all-region player that will last a year. A year is all I expect out of DVD players lately. So, out of the box, it works great. The picture is awesome, the sound is good. I like the HDMI option. Most of all, I like that I can play my PAL movies. You have to have the DVD hack code for this model to play regions other than North America, but its easy. Just type the model name and the word "hack" into google and you'll get it. You just open the tray, type the code and the region you want and presto. I know this brand has a terrible reputation, but I've had no problems.
The Worst I've Owned. March 1, 2008 A. Vavrek (Lone Pine, CA) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Since Coby seems to be the only company (I've found) who is making a DVD player with Dolby 5.1 Surround outputs, I decided to give this unit a try... Bad choice! From the very first DVD it would freeze up for a few seconds every here and there. By about the third DVD it began making a faint squealing sound resembling that of a TV's horizontal oscillator. At first I though my TV was on the blink. By the 6th DVD the freezing was unbearable. At $41.98, that's about $83.96 over-priced. (If they offered to pay me $41.98 to take another one, I'd have to think twice about it.) My advice? Wait for Sony to release a Dolby 5.1 player... Piper Drew
