4 out of 5 stars Clarification on brand customer support, not this exact item.   July 12, 2008
SprintTDI (Austin, TX)
I have not purchased this particular unit, but had a different experience with customer support from what I am reading. On two different purchases, a 37" and a 19", I did have problems with each. First was the newer 19", green screen then no picture. This happened within about 8 months of purchase, I called CS, discussed problem, received an RMA#, returned it to the store and received store credit on a new item. Very "good" customer service experience. Later my 37" developed a green stripe down the middle. This time it was out of manufacturer warranty, but I was glad I purchased the extended. Again RMA# received after speaking with technical support, returned to store for a 47" Westinghouse, which I paid nothing extra for, and it is working well for now. I will be purchasing a 26" tomorrow, but will be buying the extended warranty. I do also own a 32" Visio and 22" LG each of which I have had zero problems with to date. I suggest shopping for extended warranties carefully as those can make your purchase a few hundred more or less, depending on where the price falls. ;-) Best of luck shopping!

1 out of 5 stars Don't bother...   June 21, 2008

I got this TV/DVD combo for my cabin replacing a Toshiba REGZA 26LV47 26-Inch LCD HDTV with Built-in DVD Player. The Westignhouse is very low quality compared to the Toshiba in every way - the case is cheap, the remote is missing basic funtions like diplaying what track you are on and time remaining. The picture quality is pretty good but not as good as the Toshiba. When you stop the DVD, it doesn't save your place. It has only 3 picture modes - stantard, overscan and one more - the Toshiba has 5 which means you can pretty much find a mode that uses the whole screen no matter what the aspect is on the DVD whereas on the Westinghouse you cannot. To top it all off, the DVD player stopped working yesterday after a month and a half when I only use it every other weekend or so. I haven't tried to return it or get it fixed yet so we will see what happens later on that score.

1 out of 5 stars Westinghouse product breaks - Company Does not stand behind its product   June 6, 2008

I purchased a Westinghouse TV and within 4 months the TV was broken. At that point I called customer support and they were NOT willing to stand behind thier product. I asked if they found it reasonable for a TV go out in 4 months, all they said was that they could not help me.

1 out of 5 stars Never buy Westinghouse- horrible customer service   May 21, 2008

We purchased this Westinghouse TV and the picture was poor. We called Westinghouse and were told we had to ship it back to the company ($70) and when they received the TV they would send out a NEW TV. When the replacement TV came it was a refurbished TV and had lots of dents and scratches. We called again and they told us the wrong TV was shipped, so we sent back the dented TV. The next replacement was worse - Huge scratch on screen. After fighting over this, many phone calls and 4 moths without a TV we received the final replacement TV that is also a REFURBISHED TV and a large white spot in the center of the picture. We called again and they said they won't do anything about it. So not only did we pay the price of a new TV and have a REFURBISHED one, it has a white spot in the center.

4 out of 5 stars Exceeds expectations!   December 6, 2007

The analog picture for the typical channels was far better than I expected and the digital picture is VERY sharp. I had no idea what I was missing with my CRT television! Menu for adjustments is simple and you can see the results as you adjust - Nice. I didn't go over it with a fine tooth comb, but I have found no dead pixels after the month+ that I've owned it.

Front loading DVD that plays various music formats is a great feature that I got specifically for my blind wife and the 'Eject' button on the remote is a bonus - No fingerpints from hunting for an eject button on the front/side of the TV. The DVD layout means this unit is not as slim as many other TVs out there, so be aware.

Overall remote layout was good, but the buttons are small. Sound quality is good & there's plenty of volume.

I was expecting a good TV with some compromises because of the extra features and competative pricing - This one exceeded my expectations and I have NO regrets.
